Professional Philosophy:

Therapy is about Connecting. Parents connecting with children. Partners connecting with partners. Individuals connecting with their inner Self and higher power. Growing is about connecting with your past, present, and future; Healing is connecting with your pain in order to get to your hope. As a therapist, my job is to facilitate these connections. Grounded in Development and Attachment Therapy, I am honored to be an advocate for children, adolescents, and families. I believe a successful therapeutic relationship is built upon appreciation, sensitivity, and compassion. It should be a safe space where creativity is encouraged, collaboration is necessary, and all voices are heard.

Professional Philosophy:
“There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives”. This quote by Audre Lorde sums up my therapeutic approach, merging Black feminism and Narrative Family Therapy. I believe that our problems – as well as the solutions to them – are connected, no matter how different our identities may seem. Healing is the moment when we realize those connections and work together to construct a wellness narrative from them. As a therapist, I see myself as an audience, co-author, and at times an editor of your stories, moving us closer to wellness narratives. I am passionate about work with LGBTQ couples, people of color, and teens.

Education and Credentials:

  • Master of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Auburn University

  • Doctoral Candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Syracuse University

  • Member, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy

  • Transgender Readiness Process & Therapy

Personal Philosophy:

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I understand that all individuals are connected not only to themselves, but also the relationships and systems that they engage in during everyday life, whether those relationships be with family, partners, social and cultural environments. These relationships are extremely important in how we understand ourselves and others around us. My work with clients is centered on a strength-based foundation, nurturing a safe and collaborative therapy environment, while helping clients to explore what personal and relational struggles and narratives they bring to the therapy room. As a therapist, I have experience working with children and adolescents and their family systems, as well as individuals seeking help to experience more balance in their lives.
